A Conversation with the Daughter of Dr. Walter and Miriam Judd
TFAS is proud to host Mary Lou Judd Carpenter, daughter of TFAS co-founder Dr. Walter Judd, in a conversation with Thalia Assuras, a former network news anchor and correspondent for CBS and ABC.
Assuras and Judd Carpenter will be discussing the new book, “Miriam’s Words: The Personal Price of a Public Life,” which is a compilation of Miriam’s letters edited by her daughter.
The letters are an in-depth, real-time account of the life of the spouse of a public servant in the mid-20th century.
“This is a book for anyone who wants to know what it was like before women could really run for public office or become head of a company,” said Judd Carpenter. “Yet Miriam was not a pushover…it took courage to move a family around the world and stand up to what she saw as Communist aggression. I hope readers will learn from her experiences and discover possibilities for living.”
Assuras will lead Judd Carpenter through the key points including sharing of important excerpts. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
