There are numerous ways to make a gift to The Fund for American Studies. Please click here to make a secure online credit card gift! All gifts, regardless of size, show your support for The Fund. By making a gift, you will reinforce our solid financial footing and help minimize tuition increases. Please feel free to call the Development Office for information at any time at 202-986-0384.
Please keep in mind that our fundraising fiscal year runs from January 1 to December 31.
Credit Card Gifts
Credit card gifts are accepted numerous ways: online; through the mail; or over the phone. The Fund accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Diner's Club. Please refer to our Support TFAS page to make a secure credit card gift via the internet. When making a credit card gift by mail or over the phone, please be sure to include or have ready your name as it appears on the card, the card type, the account number, the expiration date, and the amount of the gift. Please call the Development Office at 202-986-0384 with any questions or to make a credit card gift over the phone.
Combined Federal Campaign
TFAS has been approved to participate in the 2013 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the federal government's workplace charity campaign. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. If you are a federal government employee, remember to designate TFAS 30805 as your CFC recipient. If you don't work for the federal government but know someone who does, be sure to ask them to designate TFAS 30805. We are listed in the charity list as 30805 Fund for American Studies, The.

Donors who wish to contribute but do not wish to make an immediate payment may instead make a pledge. A pledge is a promise to make a specified payment within the fundraising fiscal year (October 1 to September 30). Pledges can be made online, by mail, e-mail, or phone. The Development Office will mail a minimum of two pledge reminder letters during the fund year. Please also note that the online pledge form may be printed and mailed to the Development Office at: The Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20009. Gifts of Cash
The most common method of giving to The Fund is by check. In most cases, gifts of cash are fully deductible for donors who itemize their federal income taxes. All checks should be made payable to The Fund for American Studies and mailed to the Development Office in the postage paid envelopes enclosed with Fund mailings, or send your gift to the Development Office at: The Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20009.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Please contact The Fund's Development Office at 202-986-0384 to make a gift of securities.
Gifts of appreciated securities may be deducted at full market value on the date of transfer to The Fund. Please note that when you make a gift of appreciated securities, you won't pay taxes on your capital gain. Gifts of appreciated securities may be made in the following ways:
1. By phone, you may transfer the shares into The Fund's account. Contact the Development office at (202) 986-0384 or email Vice President of Development Ed Turner at eturner@TFAS.org for instructions.
Please note: It is extremely important that the donor notify President Roger Ream or Vice President of Development Ed Turner when one intends to transfer securities into The Fund's account. Securities cannot be sold until the donor has been identified.
2. You also may send stock certificates directly to The Fund. They should be delivered to:

Securities may be endorsed in blank (the donor's signature only) and sent to the above address. If stock certificates are endorsed, please send a stock power to The Fund under separate cover on which only the signature has been filled. Corporate Matching Gifts
Many corporations match gifts made by employees and their families to charitable institutions; some will match the gifts of employee spouses and retired employees. Most programs match on a dollar per dollar basis, which can double or triple your gift. All matching gifts are credited to you.
For specific information about your employer's matching gift program, please contact your company's personnel office. It is necessary in all cases for the donor to secure the proper matching gift forms from the corporation and to submit them to The Fund in order for us to receive the matching gifts.
Income-Producing Gifts and Bequests
There are additional, extremely meaningful ways to contribute to The Fund's future while earning tax benefits and/or income for yourself or a loved one. Some other forms of giving include but are not limited to pooled income funds, gift annuities, charitable trusts, and bequests.
