THIS YEAR'S FREEDOM SCHOLARS SHIFT FOCUS TO
LEADERSHIP – 03/28/06
 |
|
Christopher Molitoris (E 05) speaks about his summer
experience at graduation. He will participate in the Freedom Scholars
seminar this April in Washington. |
After two years of discussions of
judicial activism and civil liberties, the Freedom Scholars seminar is poised
for change.
In its third year, the seminar
will focus on leadership and professional development, rather than on a public
policy topic.
"The young alumni participants
are on the brink of graduating and are eager to take part in opportunities that
prepare them for their careers," said Alumni Affairs Director Renee
Hamlen (E 96).
In April of 2006, fourteen alumni
of the 2005 Institutes will gather in Washington, D.C. for this annual seminar.
The seminar takes place April 27-28 in conjunction with the TFAS annual
conference.
The students will attend
conference activities including an exclusive briefing at the Surpreme Court with
Associate Justice Antonin Scalia and a breakfast with former Senator Don Nickles
in addition to their sessions on leadership.
Participants were selected based
on academic excellence and leadership ability.
