D.C. ALUMNI FORM FIRST EVER BOOK CLUB
Alumni gathered at TFAS Headquarters to discuss Easterly's book with Prof. Otteson.
On Thursday, October 21, alumni in the D.C. area attended the first ever Book Club for alumni.
Those who chose to participate had three months to read William Easterly’s book, The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good.
The group then gathered at TFAS headquarters for light appetizers and to discuss the book with Charles Koch Senior Fellow at TFAS, Professor Jim Otteson. Otteson has taught for IPVS and is a professor at Yeshiva University in New York.
"Our first D.C. book club went well,” said Otteson. “We had a vigorous and stimulating discussion and we are planning on growing the group for the next meeting."
The next D.C. book club will take place early in 2011 and the reading is yet to be determined. If you would like to participate, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
